    Default Wiring deeps for foundationless

Hi. Anyone out there with foundationless deeps? Do you wire? If so, all four or just the middle two holes?

    Thanks,
    Kristen

Recently I've been making my own foundationless deep frames, I only install horizontal wires in the equivalent of the center two wire holes. It seems to work just fine.

I have been wiring two wires in the middle and glueing popsicle sticks in the top groove.

Thanks. I'm only 7 frames in but I've been wiring the entire thing. Even skipping one whole would make it much easier.

One of my goals this year is to rotate out as many old deep frames as I can in my brood boxes and get my whole broodnest on foundationless. I have been wiring the whole frame though.

    I'm not wiring mine.

After two seasons here with top bar hives, I find the comb to be pretty strong in our temperatures. In our moderate climate, I don't see the point in wiring them.

If I were ever going to extract honey from frames, especially any deep frames, I would wire with all four wires on deep honey frames. I already use both wires for medium frames. I still have several medium frames that are without horizontal wiring, they are rarely a problem, but sometimes the heat here gets to them.

No wires. No problems. Most important factor is a level hive and/or providing something to guide off of. Nice putting undrawn frame between 2 drawn ones to get straight comb.

When I was doing foundationless I just went from top to bottom on each side to make an X in the middle of the frame. Seemed to work for the most part.

Does anyone have photos or video of their wiring job they could share?

Here in TX, where summers can be 100+ for a month or more, I wire all 4 holes on a deep. Does not take that much longer and worth my peace of mind.
