Default That sure is a funny looking drone...no wait! Darn it! Flew away!

I have been raising virgin queens for the last few weeks to go in a few queenless hives. Today I was filling the feeder on one of my nucs that has several cells due to hatch in days. I pulled out an empty frame with a lone drone on it to make room, and sat it beside the nuc. As I was buttoning up the nuc from filling the feeder, I picked up the frame and was going to brush off the drone. I thought to myself, that sure is a funny looking drone. When it dawned on me I was looking at a virgin queen and I had better grab the marking pen and cage her, she up and flew away. So goes it I guess...

Pretty sure she will be back. I also heard her sister piping to her in the nuc.

Ha! Found her later sitting on an old frame in my storage area. Caught, marked, and released into queenless nuc. Done. Funny how things work out.
