Easy way to get syrup can out of packages with a magnet

I got to help with packages for the first time this year while marking queens. Getting the cans out quickly wasnt easy. I noticed the cans were not aluminum and got a big magnet and attached it to the can, pulled it straight out of the package with no digging around trying to get the rim up, it was strong enough it could have shaken the bees off easily while holding on to the can without dropping it. Even a weaker magnet would be able to life the can up so you can get hold of the top easier they prying it out and save a lot of time and keep the bees calmer.

I used some neodymium magnets when I installed my package last year. Worked like a charm.

A sideline beekeeper showed another trick at a meeting. He jolts the cage onto the edge of the larger side and the can pops right up. It certainly is fast.

Then you put the magnet in your pocket and the hive tool will stick to it
