Default Opening the Broodnest - 8 frame style?

I opened the brood nest as Micheal Bush describes - most examples I have seen show 10 frame boxes. I did it like this for my 8 frame deeps - BBEBBEBB - I tried to pair up frames so I had no singles as insurance against the cold air. Would it have been better to do it like this? BEEBBEEB

What happened to the other two brood frames in your last example? John

The point is to try to keep the brood in pairs so they can keep it warm. However that works out for you...

I used the frames I removed for a split.
