    Default Hello from south Tx

Hello everyone….. My name is Anthony and I’m from Beeville, Tx. I’ve been lurking on here about a year and putting a lot of thought into getting a hive or two this year. Does anyone know of any bee clubs or beekeepers around Beeville please let me know.

    Thanks

Hi Anthony, I'm a semi-nube from the north, so can't answer your question. But if you're in S. Tx you probably want to get going sooner v. later (it was 70 up here today so we're catching up - but it was 15 2 days ago). I would pound the internet for suppliers in your area and/or email whichever bee club (here they are by counties, but your counties are probably as big as my state) you can find a web page for in TX and ask them about package or nuc suppliers and equipment. Mann Lake is a good national supplier of boxes, etc. with free shipping over $100 (which is easy to do starting up).

    Good luck,

    Brian

Welcome to to the site (now that you have uncloaked). I know I got an email mail yesterday from BeeWeaver that they are going to have some Italian bees ready after the 18th of April. They aren't BeeWeaver bees, but they have some full sets they are saleing. If I remember the emial right they are including a complete deep with the bees.

Thanks for the welcome.... I'm going to go ask around at some of the feed store today and see if i can find any locals. i know of a few places that have beehives on them it just a matter of finding the beekeeper. I’m headed over to the lumber yard to see what the prices are on some lumber. thinking i will build everything except the frames and just order them with the other beekeeping supplies i need.

LOL, didn't even realize that. I think there is a pretty good population around here and i don’t think it would be that hard to catch a swarm. i wish i could find some old brood comb but maybe i can get lucky without it.

    Hello yanta61,

These two sources might be useful:

Our forum has a thread which might be helpful.

Texas Beekepers Association has a page for local clubs.

    Welcome!
