I'm getting ready to try swarm trapping in earnest this spring, and I wonder, how hard to you more experienced "trappers" work to get your swarms? I'm not talking about preparation of the trap itself, but about the placement and retrieval of the traps.
For example, I live in the city, and there aren't a ton of honeybees in the city.
However, an hour from me is one of the biggest fruit-producing areas in the country. So I'm looking at google maps, trying to find public-access places that I might put traps. I've looked at parks, trails, old railway lines, etc. And it appears that I will likely have to do some hiking to get from the nearest parking spot to sites that I can put traps and not worry about losing them.
Am I crazy?
How hard to you have to work to place and retrieve your traps?
