    Default Interesting Uncapping Technique

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eym8r...eature=related

Has anybody seen that before? One person in the comments question asked about melted wax in the honey. I suppose that'd probably just float to the top once it solidifies, but I wanted to see what everybody thought. If it's not going to ruin the honey, it sure looks like an easy way to uncap a frame.

First thought - looks like it works and don't think the heat is applied long enough to actually affect the honey that much. My only concern is what kind of mess does it leave the frame in? Couldn't tell much when he flashed it up to the camera. Like short cuts, but always careful. Seems like that wax in the filter from the conventional method is something the bees do not have to contend with later.

Do a search here its been talked about lots before. I tried it last year and I just didn't get the knack of it, and quickly resorted back to my knife. Totally aside, I want to know what the green junk that came out of that guy's extractor was. Looked like green slim algae.

I didn't see green, but it sure was thin--or awful warm. I just think it would take way too much time for anyone with more than a few boxes to extract. It wasn't a very hot het gun. Did you notice how close the thng was to the frames? I think my heat gun would blow a hole thru the frames at that distance.

It looked faster than me with an uncapping knife for sure - I'm gonna give it a try. That did not look like my honey looks though.

Really nice video. Not sure the heat gun is much faster then an uncapping fork for those frames that are only partially capped however. Would like to see it done with a fully capped frame.

Gives me an idea for melting cappings.
