    Default Honey spinning.

Just wondering about extracting honey. I see that when the drones hatch, if there is no queen, that the bees fill the cells with nectar. Should I wait till its all capped to take it out and spin it, or can I just take it out with some uncapped and when I spin it the honey will just be a little watery? I'm trying to take out some Deep frames that I got in a Nuc that I don't want as soon as I can.

    Thanks for the help.*

A few uncapped shouldn't hurt. The reason you wait for the honey to be capped before extracting is the bees need to get the moisture content correct before capping. by extracting too early, you could end up with fermented honey.Patience grasshopper

For storage (or as human honey), harvest after it is mostly capped. If you really need that frame gone, extract and feed the proceeds back to the bees in a baggie feeder.

But look, if your colony has no queen, you have a lot bigger problem than high-moisture honey!

In our area, because the honey comes in slow, I rarely see watery honey. If it does not shake out, it is ready to extract.

I actually do have a queen. I just moved her off the deep frames that I'm trying to get rid of. Ok. I guess I'll just wait and see. Maybe I'll take out the frames and have the bees take back the uncapped and when they are done then I'll uncap and spin the rest. I'll see what happens in a few weeks when the rest of the brood hatch out of those frames.
    Thanks

Nothing wrong with extracting brood comb with no brood in it. It turns out a little darker and it is hard to get the little black flecks of cocoons out of the honey. All tastes the same.
