    Default crabbing thread

hi everyone, alond with archery hunting(local and elk out west) salt water fishing, gardening I am an avid crabber mostly in the chesapeake bay.

I use for my crabbing, 30 traps attatched to floats spread out over 500ft and a 1,000 ft trottline. I was just curious if anybody else does any crabbing. just like serious crabbing, bee keeping seems to have its own flavor. Bob

I haven't gone crabbing in years... the last time was with a hand trap from my sailboat on the Sassafras River. Had the freshest crab salad sandwich in the history of mankind.

I've been crabbing (recreational) in the chesapeake for years. From Baltimore area down thru Pt. Lookout/Crisfield area. Eastern Bay was my favorite spot.

I always have 2 pots out at my parents' house on the Bay (Northern Neck of Virginia). Although I don't do much crabbing, I do grow about 5,000 oysters a year.

I have a few friends who commercially fish (Blue) crab. I can get crabs all year long. Nothing better than fresh crab, especially Soft Shell!
I have been to Philly the last 2 years for the Marine Corps Birthday, looking forward to going again this year!
Every now and then I go help a friend who use to be a Commercial Fisherman. He runs anywhere from 25 to 200 traps on weekends.
