I have worked with Philippians a few times and beekeeping there is very different than from what we do in the rest of the world. For starters they keep Indigenous bees (Api Cerana). When the European honeybee was first introduced there, they were quickly wiped out by disease. Api Cerana is resistant to mites and has little or no disease to contend with, so treatment free will be no problem. On the down side they are very aggressive and produce smaller crops of honey than Api Mellifera.
