Bucket of wax/feremented honey

I have a 5 gallon bucket of unprocessed beeswax that sat too long, and now has that "fermented nectar" smell.

My question is, if I melt and strain it, will it still have that fermented smell, or will it be ok to make into candles?

I can always just try it, but I thought I would save myself some time if someone already knows the answer!

We purchased some wax that was rendered after the cappings sat long enough to develop a fermented smell. After rendering, the scent was still in the wax. We remelted and filtered the wax but the smell was still too strong to use for candles. We ended up selling it for industrial use.
