    Default Moth Crystals

I’m considering use wax moth crystals to keep out moth larva out of my brood boxes and honey supers, if I could get some feedback that would be great. I have brood boxes that I didn’t extract the honey out of because I wanted to use them next spring to feed with, can I use wax moth crystals in those boxes with honey still in the frames and will it hurt the honey for the bees next year. I also have honey supers that have never had brood in them; do I need to put moth crystals in them?
Question 1, can I and should I put moth crystals on frames with honey in them
Question 2, do I need to put moth crystals in honey supers that have never had brood in them?
    Thank you

    Hi Jay,
In my opinion the BT is much safer. If you're mind is made up to use the crystals make sure you get the right kind. There are 2 different formulations one type will wreck you're equipment.
The abbreviation for the right chemical is PB but I don't remember the full word.
The BT is available in the for sale section.

ParaDichloroBenzene are the right ones Naptha are bad for bees. There are plenty of things besides moths that are interested in a super of honey, like mice. I have never heard of successful results with mice and BT. Fortunately you are a bit North for small hive beetles.
