I have some frames of nectar and honey I would like to feed back to my hive. I read somewhere I could put an inner cover on (I use a screened inner) and put a super on top of that and put the frames of nectar in the super above the IC. Can I put in one or two frames only, or 8 (8 fr meds) or does it matter? I guess my concern is for the extra space that would be there - risk of small hive beetle home, etc.
Thanks ESB. Is there an advantage to the empty box versus the inner cover? Still wondering - can I just put a few frames, not a full box. Can't think of why it would matter.
If your bees are the only ones in the area, scratch the cappings and put the frames where your bees find them. The bees will remove the honey in an hour or two. Check to see how they are taking the honey and remove the frames if they are starting to damage the comb.
