    Default neat day yesterday

I'm a first year beek and had a neat first yesterday. Went to work my hive and sat a bit in front and watched the girls coming and going. Lots and lots of pollen coming in. All different colors of yellow, whitish gray, greens, and even a bright blaze orange on many of their little legs. Anyhow started opening up the hive for inspection and got down through the upper deep and low and behold I got to watch some new bees hatching out. It was super cool and a first for me. Now I just have to find that d@mn queen, still haven't seen her! The last two times I had done my inspections I have not smoked in hopes of not alarming the queen but no luck yet. Good thing is the hive isn't anymore aggressive without the smoking.

    thought I'd share,

    Sully

Sully, How cool for you! That must have been neat to see a bee hatch. I've never seen it. 2 hives last year and 4 this year and with all the inspections I've only seen a queen twice. Nice story, enjoy your bee's.

A good day indeed. At least you know the queen is present due to the babies hatching out. Sounds like a good deal.

yep, i know she's there b/c there is a lot of brood in all different stages throughout the hive but man, she is really good at hiding. Since I have had the hive my population has more than doubled with the bees.
