Queens without front legs .....
Anyone heard of removing both front legs of 2 queens making them non combative .... and they each lay many eggs?
Re: Queens without front legs .....
A researcher in Australia removed the front legs of queens to determine how they recognized drone cells. Without the front legs the queens laid worker eggs in drone cells. There was no increase in the number of eggs laid per day.
Removing a front leg is a method to induce supersedure of a queen sometimes practiced in England, or so I have read.
