Look for a Local or Statewide Guild. Ken Schwartz is the Master Blacksmith at Colonial Williamsburg, Wmsbg, VA. Figure out how to contact him and he can set you on your way.

John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown,NC used to have blacksmith classes. They are on ther web. Contact them for more info.

I bet there are Blacksmith and Ironworkers Associations in Oregon. Farriers are good at what they do, but don't let people confuse you and send you to a Farrier to learn Blacksmithing. Two different Trades. Though a Farrier may know where to find a Blacksmith.

Good luck. It's fun and mysterious.

They have really expanded their Blacksmithing curriculum. Their new facilities are really nice. Never took any of the classes myself, but enjoy standing around watching them.

Check out http://www.anvilfire.com/index.htm I find it to be good.

My hives are behind my blacksmith shop, I can see them from the widow, like to sit out there and watch them as way to cool down and ponder my projects.
I make my hive stands of metal, mig welded, but I plan on doing a forged stand sometime this winter, and have some ideas for simple to make decorative stuff for garden hives.
Blacklisting can be as addictive as bee keeping, be fore-warned, and good luck.

Hey WillyC, I plan to set up the new hives this Spring behind my Smithy also.

RiodeLobo, www.iforgeiron.com is a nice site that I frequent.
What kind of advice are you looking for? I'll try to help any way I can.
