    Hi, I was wondering how many brood chambers I should have on my hives?

    I think it depends on where you live, and how many bees you have in the hive. If you lived in a warmer climate that has little or no winter weather you may be able to go with one. But the hive would likely swarm more and there would be likely less honey production. Really cold climates would need more stores for themselves and more bees to servive the winters so you could need more brood chambers. I am going with 2.
    I could be wrong... if I am I am sure someone will tell me. 2 deeps or 3 Mediums seems to be the standard.

    I go with 3 brood boxes and NO queen excluder.

    what are you using?, mediums, deeps, deep and a western ???? 3 mediums, or 2 deeps, or one deep and a western...I would bet 2 deeps with hive wrap in the winter is the norm in Saskatoon.....
