Transferred a Top Bar bait hive three weeks after capturing the swarm. I was surprised at how much they had built up, brood, pollen, honey, etc. It was messy ("the horror, the horror"), quite a bit of cross comb that I had to set into hinged cut frames (thanks for the design), but it wasn't a total cluster. After a few days it was back running on eight cylinders with new comb being drawn on empty bars. Next time I'll do it early in the morning (cooler and not in direct sunlight). When I was cleaning up after, I saw a small "ball" in the bottom of the bait hive. Picked it up to inspect and saw it was a detatched abdomen. Set it in my palm for a closer look and "ZAP" it stung me. Serves me right.
