wow, you seem to be really concerned with pm box space. Do you get that many pm's that you cant delete?

Maybe open the brood nest, sorry I mean clean out the PM folder. You don't want your PM hive to swarm.

I do download my PM's, but no matter which format I use they are always easier to read and keep track of while they're still stored on the forum.

Peep, you got to remember that this is my business...and i get a TON of inquiries about nucs and queens. Many I cannot delete as they include contact info...
Joseph, how is this done and in what format are they stored in?

For a $20 donation, I'll bump it up. Since it's a business, it's also a right off for you.![]()
Regards, Barry
One way is to just cut 'n paste into a spreadsheet or a word processing document, but maybe Joseph has a more sophisticated method.
Even if Barry does increase your PM space, I would certainly back up all important information to another computer or other storage device. Think about it -- What if Barry's ISP is hacked or crashes and all your PMs are lost -- what would that do to your business?
My e-commerce store uses a product and order database, and I back that database up to my personal computer regularly, just in case the "unthinkable" happens to my store.
On top of that, downloading and storing this contact info in a spreadsheet or document gives you the option of making the information more useful to you. Rather than have to deal with 100s of PMs, you might have just one spreadsheet, say, that you can use to quickly find the info you need. Just a thought....
You can download them as XML, CSV, or TEXT. You can actually download them in all three different formats, though not at the same time. Downloading them does not automatically delete them from the forum. After downloading them you would still need to delete them from the forum to open up the space.
You just go to your PM box, go to the bottom of the message list, select the messages you wish to download, then click on the "selected messages" drop down -- pick your format, then select, "proceed".
I'm sure that several of these formats could be turned into databases and a spreadsheet formed that could more easily turn the raw information into a more usable form.

First class it is, Barry. Absolutely no argument from me on that!!!
I am paranoid when it comes to making sure my biz info is secure -- there's just too much to lose. And if there is a crash, even if the ISPs backup system is great, I still want my data under MY control too. So it's worth it to me to do "belt 'n suspender" backups. FWIW, IMNSHO, YMMV, and all that....
King... just look at the bottom of the notifications page. There you have 3 different format choices to DL in. Me... I just pick Text. Seems to work everytime. Once you have checked out the TEXT DL... then you can safely delete.

You're an LLC for all of 3 months and are already sooo precocious.![]()
CSV is Comma separated values - more likely to be used to put data into Spread Sheets and databases.
XML.... never used this one, but it stands for something like extensible markup languate.
TEXT.... same as the stuff you are reading.... only thing I used to DL my messages.
Hope I got it right.. my brain is fried from this heat too.
CSV is comma separated values. It uses commas to tell excel (or whatever other program you open it in) how to split the data up into different cells. I just tried it and my version of excel does everything automatically. if you try and it doesn't do it automatically I can show you what you need to do.
It has a column for the date, folder, title, from, to, and the message itself. Then you can sort and filter messages to your hearts content.
Thanks.

I hope that is a complement. I have been researching this for about 6 months now...I have 2 lawyers and an accountant at my disposal...the latter is a bee yard owner of mine and gives me advice at any time of day or night...unless he is on vacation and then you do not hear back from him.

Yes, it is.
I too would love having a larger mailbox here. When communicating with say 5 or 6 different members back and forth, I am regularly reaching my limit and having to go through and delete PMs way too often.
I know it happens to others as well, because when i try to send them a message, I get a notice that their mailboxes are full too and can't accept new messages. This doesn't happen to me on any other site- can't we all be allowed a measley couple hundred text messages for our inbox and sent folders?
Pretty pretty please....?![]()
