First swarm catch last night!

Got a call from a friend at 11 pm last night to say there was a big group of bees in a building at our jobsite. This building has one whole wall of old comb so probably should have had a swarm trap there all ready but anyway. I get my stuff around and go check it out. I would estimate probably 15 to 20,000 bees in this swarm all gathered on a window. Too a rubbermaid tote and swept them into it. Hived them today. all looks good I guess, put some feed on them. When should I check to make sure all is well? These are also very large bees, way larger then any of my other hives and very black. Any guesses on what they are? Update on first swarm. Hive is doing well, apparently caught the queen as I had eggs just a few days after the catch. They have drawn out and mostly filled 8 out of the 10 foundationless frames in a medium box and have went to work on 2 frames in top medium.
