Default May Have Got Ahead of Myself

This is my first year for bees I was told to put my second brood chamber on when the bees had all the frames drawn out to the last two outside frames. I set my second brood chamber on when the last two frames on each side have not been drawn out did I just waste two frames by doing that.

    Thanks

You are fine. Move the unused frames in one position.

add second box when 75-80% of first box is drawn. If you are using a 10 frame box that would be 7-8 frames. Looks like your good to go, good luck

No problem, just move the two frames inward to the edge of the brood nest. The frames with pollen and honey will move to the outer positions.

That's common. You'll find yourself frequently moving frames for one reason or another.

butch,I read your post that you had TWO frames on each side not drawn? If thats the case your at 60%, just alittle ahead. You can still work them in and get them drawn. jim

Just for clarification. If he has 2 unused frames (one at each end of the brood box should he moved a capped frame to the side of the box and the unused frame one frame in ? I have same situation. I just wasn't clear about your recommendation.

Yes thats right, often they work the out side frame(s) very slow, so you just move it in 1 or 2 frames and they will draw them out, just make sure to not place an undrawn frame between two brood frames as you may end up with chilled brood. jim
