I'm new to beekeeping and to this forum so I wanted to say I'm excited about both. I recently retired and was driving my family nuts being home with nothing to do. So, I decided to plunge head first into this challenging and often confusing world of placing wild honeybees in a pine box and hoping they'll stay there so you can steal their honey. I'm also getting stung on a consistent basis which I'm really thrilled about!!!

So far, it's been a lot of fun. I have 5 hives on a 4 story rooftop in San Francisco across from Golden Gate Park so the girls get their pick of flowers. I joined the local bee club and have new friends who know quite a bit about beekeeping. I like the tone of this forum so here I am.

Welcome, I live in the country so I pass on advice about urban beekeeping, but there are plenty here who report it even better in urban environs. Good luck.
