This might seem like an obvious question, but I am wondering when is the best time of day to go in and inspect your hive?

I like mid morning. Not as hot and the bees seem calmer than in the afternoon.
any time that it is less than 70F, not raining, and not too windy.
We like to inspect when the bees are out of the hive foraging. Less bees, less disturbance to the hive. This then allows us any time from mid-morning to late afternoon when the foragers start returning for the evening.
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like right now is the perfect time! Midmorning, a little sun and no breeze. Do the bees return to the hive right at sunset or do they come in more when the temperature drops?
they return several times a day with a good flow on but they call it a day just before sunset unless weather goes bad. Jim

I like to be in the hives when most of them are out foraging. I look for a bright, warm day and I shoot for mid morning because the position of the sun is best for me as I inspect frames.

A calm sunny afterno0on is perfect. I don't get perfect very often... but I'll pass if there is no pressing reason to be in the hive and things are less than optimum.
