Sad What do you do when the swarm lands way up in a large tree.

One of my hives swarned yesterday and they are about 70 feet up a large oak tree. I put a couple of extra swarm traps out and baited them. Is there anything else I could do? Similar situation a couple years ago and I shot the branch down, but that didn't get me the swarm. It is my strongest hive, right in the middle of the flow.

    Maybe try this method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FAiOB9MzIY

Although that it is still probably too high.

As David says - kiss it goodbye.

I have seen this problem many times having lots of mature oaks all around the beeyard. One year I even tried raising a bait hive to within a couple of feet and they still flew away - we shot an arrow with attached string/rope across the limb.

I am going to try hanging a black beanie hat on a low branch to act as a lure. I saw this in another thread just a couple of days ago.

Get out your rifle or wave it good by. I just wave at them and call them Mother Natures Bees now.

I call one of the local beekeepers that has a sign company and a bucket truck. He put me in the bucket to get 3 colonies out of one tree one day.
