Time until laying

Made up my first splits Apr 28 with a couple frames brood with capped and open swarm cells. Checked today- May 6- and saw one QC apparently hatched, others open on the sides and others gone. Does this mean I have a virgin that has torn into the other cells? How long until I see eggs? Weather has been and is predicted to be cold and rainy for a while.

Sounds as if that is exactly what has happened. I would give it around 2 weeks till you see eggs/larvae

The other bees tore down the cells after the virgin stung her through the cell wall.
2-3 weeks you should have eggs. Over 3 weeks something probably went wrong.
