shb trap design question

Hi Everyone, This would be my first post and looking for some information. I am considering building a vented version of the IPK tray type beetle trap. The instructions say to use #6 mesh for the screen. I can't seem to find a specification for this fabric. I have both 1/8" and 1/4" hardware cloth. My question is can the bees pass through a 1/4" opening? If so it would not be the appropriate choise for the bottom screen.

Yes, bees can go thru the 1/4" screen. 1/8" is the standard screen for the bottom board.
