    Should have put this under another Forum. Sorry.

    All numbers in the sequence if divided by the number that precedes it produce a result greater than 1. Except the first number, if 1 is divided by the number that logically procedes it the result is undefined. Or all numbers in the sequence if divided by the number the precedes it produces a result greater then or equal to 1 but less then 2 except 1 and 2 2 divided by 1 equals 2. 1 divided by zero is undefined

    Sorry that's the best I have. saw this problem in entrance exams 30 years ago but!

    Not a math problem. It's a Grammer problem.

    Find the error, it's impossible. "it's" as in "it is", not "its" as in the possesive or plural.

    Pretty sure the error is within the sentence... "Its impossible", it should be "it's impossible".

    Its is to be used possessively. It's is a combination of "it is".

    Edit: Darn, beaten to the answer

    Considering that 1718 is dismissed as a typing mistake we all have to assume its and it's is also a typographical mistake.

    There are multiple errors in your request. Find the error. It's impossible.

    Someone has already pointed out that 1718 is also an error, though probably a typographical one.

    As you realized, this is also the wrong forum.

    No comma usage.

    Exactly what I was think.

    While we are talking math, try finding the error in the following proof that 2 = 1:

    a = b

    a^2 = b^2

    a^2 = ab

    a^2-b^2 = ab-b^2

    (a+b) (a-b) = ab-b^2

    (a+b) (a-b) = b(a-b)

    a + b = b

    b + b = b

    2b=b

    2 = 1

    Other problems: There's no "e" in grammar. And "find the error, its impossible." is a run-on sentence.

    So, it's not the word "its"? Kelsey Grammer spells it that way. Spelling isn't my strong soot. And I would have thought that a run on sentence would have to be longer than that one. My Mom was the Grammarian, but I can't get ahold of Her anymore. So, I defer, or is that defur?, to others more knowledgable than I.

    Consensus is that it isn't an error in the sequence of numbers, right?

    first thing I would like to point out that squaring a number always makes it positive when you start throwing minus signs in all bets are off. I could try to prove it mathematically but

    a squared = b squared
    is not the same as a x b = a x b a or b could be a negative number

    That would have been correct had a semicolon been used to connect the two independent clauses rather than a comma and the possesive pronoun "its" replaced with the contraction "it's."
