How long before checking a caught swarm

I placed a D. Coates nuc box out as a swarm trap on Sunday. It had one frame of black comb and 4 foundationless frames with a starter (popsicle stick) with beeswax on them. I put it 10' up in a tree with lemongrass oil as a attractant. I came home from work today and found that I had caught a swarm. Checked them after dark and there were a small amount of bees on the landing strip and around the hole. How long should I wait before opening the box and checking them. I would be putting them in a Deep as soon as I can. Any suggestions. First swarm and first year having bees. Thanks for the help.

Put them in your hive. They will stay or go regardless of what you do.

just out of curiosity...was it a swarm from your hives or from another source?

I assume that it is from a feral hive. Other than my two hives, which have not swarmed ( new Nucs) the closest hive that I know of are about two miles away.

Probably not necessary, but I let mine sit 2 weeks before I go through the hive.
I do move them to their permanent location when I catch them though.
