Old myth, we get hives from in cell towers and power boxes all the time. I can assure you they are healthy. Bee physiology is nothing like humans or their lifespan. They do not talk and text while driving/flying either.

The real issue will be when all the old Beeks retire and there are far fewer people to keep bees, then we will definitely see a decline in bees.

I carry a phone in my pocket when I am working my hives and have never experienced CCD in any of my hives.

It was the data plans that were killing me... had to cut them off.

Just bought a bunch of woodware from a guy who was a hobby bee guy. then a friend knew a friend who knew of an old beek who had retired. Ended up buying his bee farm and all the stuff. went from having 4 working hives to about 15 with the potential of about 100 more in wooden ware in stock.

On a related note though, cell-phone-related deaths of my bees are increasing at an alarming rate as more and more of them engage in texting while flying. I've warned them, but you can't legislate against stupidity. one of them idiots just hit my window!

My first bee yard is located 200 yards from a cell phone tower. When working my hives I usually have my phone in my pocket. Yard is still thriving! So I would also have to disagree with the article and say it's an old myth!
