Shipped Queen

I had a queen shipped to me and yesterday the workers were ( I thought all OK) and this morning 95% of the workers were dead the Queens look good. I put a Qtip with water on it and gave them a drop of water. What could have happened to the workers? Going to put the queens in a hive first thing this morning.
