    Default Mold in the hive...

I just opened my hives totally today, I have been feeding for a few weeks now. (Wisconsin). I had a hive swarm last year and got them back, but the winter loss was pretty high. I had a lot of bees on the bottom and after I cleaned them off I noticed there was quite a bit of mold in there. There was dead brood from last year so I removed that too. I am wondering if I need to worry about disease from the mold on the bottom board. There were also some bees between the frames which also had mold on them and some on the comb. Thanks for any help....Ray

It's common and benign to bees. Might want to improve ventilation in hive with SBB and/or top entrance. You may already have these but dead bees can block airflow.

In the future get an old wire coat hanger straighten it and bend a hook onto one end and towards the end of winter pull out the junk through the front opening with it
