I posted this on the beekeeping 101 forum but I thought I would ask the commercial beeks.
I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find the answer through the search function.
My parents want to buy some property and want us to put bees on it.
If we want to do beekeeping seriously and try to make money at it...how much land do I need.
In other words, how many hives can you place per acre? I know it depends on the forage but let's assume it is just wildflower (whatever is growing naturally).
Obviously, we will plant additional forage but I want to get an idea of how much land we will need as I don't want to short change ourselves and have to get more in the future.
If I want to eventually have, say 1000 hives, would 100 acres be enough or is this subjective to the forage that's available?
Thanks for the advice.
