    Default Is there any advantage...

Whats the advantage of using sugar syrup over dry sugar to feed a package? Or maybe it doesn't matter either way?

The bees much prefer sugar water to dry sugar. In some cases the bees will not even identify dry sugar as food and they will take it out of the hive. The bees treat the syrup just as they would nectar. The only use dry sugar really has is for emergency winter feeding.

    It does matter.

The dry sugar will keep the bees alive but the thin (1:1) syrup will encourage them to build comb.

The syrup stimulates the colony when there's no nectar flow.
