Painting Extractor

I have an extractor that need's the frame holder's painted, They are steel and are showing some rust. I have ordered Camcote paint from brushy mountain to paint it with.
My question is some of the old paint is gone, should I paint it with regular paint then when it is dry cover it with the food grade paint. The camcote is clear and this would make it look a lot nicer. Thanks in advance.

Have it sandblasted, then camcote it.

What is camcote? Polyurethane?

Totally agree on the sandblasting. It's relatively cheap. I know it'll depend on your locale...I've got a local guy that would do that for me for $10 or less. Well worth it to get rid of the old stuff and get a good coat that'll last.

The epoxy is not cheap so I wonder why the manufacturers make the parts out of metals that will rust and corrode.

This is an older machine, today theyare probably made with a rustproof materiial. Epoxy from Brushy Mountain is 8.50 per quart, I wouldn't call that high.

It is listed at 13.50 now which is 54.00 per gallon. Looks pricey to me when compared to Urethanes or even stainless construction.

I remember someone claiming honey is very corrosive when they remarked about my extractor.

Back in the day stainless wasnt used much. Now 90% of the manufacturers use stainless.

Well if you are an OEM, Original Equipment Manufacturer, You pay a little more for the material but you gain in elimination of coating processes. Plus there is a perception of cleanliness when using stainless.
