Any tips on how to get the word out that I am willing to rescue a few swarms?

Call the police, municipalities, fire department, county extension agent, feed stores, etc . I get the most calls from the police dept and municipalities, and I get the least from the latter 2. I get more calls about honey from the extension agent.

Type out or print out some postcards and send them to your surrounding police and fire stations as well as pest control companies. The postcard with your tel. number remains with them as a reminder for the moment when they actually get a call. OMTCW

I get 99.9% of all my calls from the swarm collection list of my state beekeepers assoc. definitely worth 20 buck a year, and that was just over 30 calls last year. The only call I have received from the fire dept was a cutout in a tree.
