I got my hands on a copy of this film and watched it today. I thought it was quite interesting. I hope those Giant Hornets never make there way to the US or I thinks
Has anyone ever seen it?

Zone 7A - Southern, MA. Elevation 138 ft.
4 hives: 1 Carniolan/Italian Hybrid, 2 Swarms from that hive and 1 Russian.
I have seen a video of the giant Japanese hornets invading beehives.
That's one insect I never want to meet.

Saw a program on the Japanese ones - very interesting, especially the part where they show how the native honey bees will ball a scout hornet and kill it with heat. Of course once a hive has been spotted by more than the scouts it is game over for the poor bees. The European honey bees apparently don't have that defense strategy.

Saw a program about these hornets on National Geogaphic. Hopefully they will never come and learn to survive out here. Scary creatures.
Only thing is, japan isn't trying to get rid of the hornet like we as the states would. It would be easy to protect your hive from them, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal if they come here.
I'm more worried about protecting me from them.I only have one hive but I have very bad reactions to wasp bites. Of course I would also hate to lose my only hive and since I am in my 70's that would probably be my last hive. Mind you the way this winter is going I may not have one anyways. One can only hope.
