This is an exciting time of year for us as beeks!!! I think we're all getting itchy![]()
You guys are both right!
That is what I hoped to be doing this weekend but my hives didnt show up![]()
I really enjoy building my equipment but, painting is my least favorite part.
I second that!
That is why I would like to pass on a painting technique given to me form the forum....can't remember who turned me on to this but.....I take a long 2x4 and rest one end on my ladder and one end on my bee table, I then slide all the boxes to be painted onto the 2x4....make it SOO easy to paint all 4 sides and the edges if you like, very little mess, I even do it while sitting on a rolling mechanics stool. Might give it a try if you are not happy with the way it is going now. I will never paint a box another way again.![]()

I have 10 new medium supers I need to stain myself. Guess I better get busy, still need to acquire frames for them too hehe!
Great tip NasalSponge. Better than setting up all the drop cloths in the back yard, and your way, I have all side access.

Dip helps but paint is better. The problem with dipping you get green dots on anything not covered including you.
I mean a hot dip with rosin/beeswax etc

I agree painting is my least favorite also. I painted 8 top bar hives this weekend. I'm glad that's over. I got almost as much paint on myself as the hives

Beekeeper? Shoot, my bees keep me!
I'm new to beekeeping, so even painting is fun!! I've decided to let my family who are coming to visit at Easter , paint pictures on my honey supers!! I've already painted the brood boxes, with the help of my daughter, who painted hives and bees and flowers on them. That went over so well we decided to do the rest, I'm bribing my family with honey 'from the honey supers' they painted...whatever works.

I've been busy assembling cypress supers from Rossman Apiaries...no painting necessary. I hate painting bee equipment and these are supposed to last more than a century without painting. I'll give you an update a hundred years from now if they last, or sooner if they start rotting out!
