    Default honey season at last!

It's the summer months here in the Philippines and at long last, after 2 months of delay, our honey season has started!

It's so wonderful to see capped honey combs and I am totally excited to do our very first honey extraction!

Never mind that we started out with 11 colonies last June and now we are down with 5 at 3 levels each. (bad me) I think all my mistakes are worth it. Experience at this point is still the best teacher.

Bought so many hives at one time even though i don't have any knowledge on beekeeping. Did a lot of experiments: shift from white sugar to brown sugar (big mistake) to high fructose corn syrup.

Now, we'll just have to wait and see... (Note: I really need to get an assistant to lift those supers... to think i keep the supers at 9 frames instead of 10.)

    Hi Azeryth,
    Congrats!
My parents are immigrants from the Phillippines, so of course I am curious about your bees.
What kind of bees do you have? And what island do you live on, if I may ask?

    Best wishes,

    Hello,

    Thank you.

For our apiary, we are keeping Apis mellifera but we have local species of bees such as Apis cerana and Apis dorsata. Actually, just beside our mellifera colonies is one hive of the cerana in a coconut trunk.

We are located in Southern Luzon, particularly in Laguna.

    Til next!

Congratulations, Azeryth. I've been wondering how you and your bees were faring. May this be the first of many successful honey seasons for you.
