Hello from south east Wisconsin.
I started bee keeping last spring (2010) with 2 hives and have 3 hives wintering right now. Looking forward to springtime but enjoy the break that winter gives me. I'm keeping busy and saving some money by building some new hive parts from scratch right now from plans & tips I've read on this forum.
A wealth of information and opinions on this site and I enjoy weeding through it all but have finally registered so I can join in on the conversations.
I learned a lot from the bees last summer and have even more questions now than before I started. I thought I'd never get rid of the 90 lbs of honey I got from my 2 hives and can't believe how quickly it went. Seems like everyone enjoyed it and is asking for more so I'm planning to expand a little in 2011.
Goals for 2011 are to split a hive if it's strong enough in spring, catch another swarm (I found that exciting last summer), & keep the hives healthy and strong.
