Default Central Texas - Austin Area

I have been reading a lot and have finally decided to start a couple of colonies. I own 18 ac which is covered with wild flowers in the spring and early summer. I am hoping to contact someone locally that may wish to transfer a few of their colonies out here so I could assist with working them and learn. If not, I will purchase equipment and bees and seek a little help and guidance. For now, I intend to continue reading.

    Hi RB,

I am in the area near Buda and Driftwood and may need to transfer some colonies (maybe 10 or so) out of my home location to another place. I have one outyard already but am looking to possibly have another, as my young son has tested strongly allergic to honeybees.
Even so, I would be more than happy to speak to you about bees and beekeeping, especially as it relates to our area.

I do want to keep it small scale the 1st year to see how well the bees will do in this area. Water is not a problem since I am across the highway from the Pedernales River. I'm not sure about forage. There's little to no agriculture in the area and the wildflowers are subject to our ever changing rainfall patterns.

Jeffery, PM sent with contact info.
