one board hive plans
I came across a set of plans last year on building a complete 10 frame hive and super ,minus the frames, from one 1x12x10. I have not been able to find them again. I belive they were from a "university". I built one of my hives with these plans and wish to build more. I really liked how there was very little waste. Please help me in this search!

Re: one board hive plans
thanks for that, ive seen that one on here, but was i was looking for used no plywood. The inner and outer covers as well as the bottom board were all made from the same piece of lumber, it could have been 2 pieces of lumber, not sure, been a while since ive made it.
This is a good back up though, if i cant find what im looking for.
Im just so happy with the hive that i made, how its held up, and how easy it was to make, i wish i could find it

I use all mediums in my yard. I use 1x8x72 per medium, with approx 1in scrap. 2.40 apiece from local sawmill.

Re: one board hive plans
Yem,
Sounds like you are thinking of 2 boards or maybe a 10 footer board.
A 6 footer will get you the sides of a brood box. but you then will need +-20 inches for both the top and the bottom.
Try this. This spring, take your tape measure out to the box you made. In 10 mins you will be able to see how you did it and know what wood you need to do it again.
Good luck.

jrbbees; I wish you'd refrain from using that common sense stuff on this forum. Pretty soon no one will post anymore if they can figure this business out by themselves!
