I was wondering if I put new plastic frames in with a package of bees,I usually feed sugar water to help in drawing out the comb.I was wondering if you placed some wax somewhere in the hive would the bees utilize it? Just a thought.

I put scraped off burr come on top of lids and the bees seem to get it and us it.

You would be better off melting the wax and brushing it on your frames. The bees will chew it in place to draw it out.

Yes. Melt the wax and put it on the plastic frame. That's where they need it.

My other thought is it's hard (in my area) to get packages to draw out plastic. Better to use wax until the hive is stronger, then start bringing in the plastic. Lots of discussion on this, too.

And sqkcrk is right, others will disagree. But that's the joy of sharing different ideas in a forum like this.

We coat plastic foundation with extra wax and put swarms on it. Works great.
