We all want quick spring build up, before the flow. We want bees to do splits. Most if not all want large populations going into winter. So what is your opinion. Can a queen lay too many eggs.

The bees won't let her. They will backfill or not feed as much or clean out eggs or whatever it takes to get her to lay less.

I think one of your bigger limitations on spring buildup is the amount of brood the cluster can cover. If the queen lays more eggs than the cluster can cover, your queen laid too many eggs.
