Race identification?
I caught a swarm today that originated from one of my hives. It was my first swarm, so it was really interesting to look at the drastically different behavior of swarming bees-bees were patrolling and throwing out robbers, exchanging honey, etc.
I noticed, though, that many of the bees weren't italian like the rest of my hives. They had grey bodies and slightly thinner abdomens. It seemed like my italians were treating them normally.
I took some pictures, what race are they? I think they're Carniolan bees (but I don't know of any beekeeper in the area who has anything but italians), and if so, will these two races just live together?

My carnie russian mix look like that....one queen is really light, the other is light with black tipped tail. I noticed most of the the new brood looks like the bees in the picture.

Rapigan,
Welcome to the forum. Always good to see another from Maine.
You might want to reduce the size of your photo to no larger than 640x480 or it likely will be removed.
Image posting.
