Heat and Api-Life Var
Sunday the second wafer of api-life var is supposed to go on the hives. The last week we had temps in the mid sixties with rain for about four days. I did have some brood removed early on, and the girls are definitely aggravated by the odor, lots of fanning and one hive removed the majority of the wafer oieces on day five. Now, in typical New England fashion we're expecting 5 or more days in a row over 90, with a couple over 95. The mite count is way down, zero on one hive and four on the other today, but I'd like to finish the treatment.
For those of you that have used apilife var, would you recommend going ahead with the full treament or possibly reducing the size of the wafers in the hive for the next week based on the pending heat wave? Any thoughts are appreciated.
Re: Heat and Api-Life Var
I have a similar situation down here with a second dose due Tuesday and heat on the way. My thought is that I will delay treatment..though I am not telling you to do so.
