And now, we can turn this into a bacon thread.
Tilapia worse than bacon
Farmed Tilapia may be less healthy (healthful?...healthsome?...whatever!) than bacon.

I was in a restaurant in Omaha Neb. about 10 years ago and the only thing on the menue was carp and hicken 75% of the people got carp and we stood in line to get in.It was some of the best fish I ever ate but I used to think it was trash fish but not now. I nevercought one that didn't swallow the hook

Of course Tilapia is worse than bacon -- bacon is, after all, better than everything else.
i teach my students how to make bacon. I just got done smoking it yesterday and we all tried it today in class. It was freaking delicious!

I'm going to try making bacon myself. A local Asian market sells raw pork bellies, and I've got the rest of the stuff.
I just have one question -- how do you slice it thin enough without a real slicing machine?
Put the pork belly in your freezer for a bit before you slice it. Plan on a thicker cut than store bought. yummy. also check out Alton Brown making bacon. He has a show on it. I bet you can google it.
one thing to consider..... homemade bacon is very different then store bought bacon. Country style bacon.... what used to be the norm, was slice by hand and thicker then store bacon. Should never be paper thin like you see at the store. Now a days, most people expect bacon to be crispy crunchy but that is not how they ate it traditionally. Very simular to breakfest ham steak. Thicker cut.
