Just heard about this. Don't know anything about it. Does anyone know anything about Australian Mud Virus in the brood of honeybees?

It was originally thought to be a form of KBV but now seems to be a nutrition problem.
You are pulling our legs, aren't you Mark?
Only if someone is pulling my leg. I took the guy that I heard about it from seriously.

Great, we'll probably import that to America too.
The cause is officially unknown. But having chatted with some beekeepers from those parts, my own theory it's not a disease, but something the bees gather in that area that harms them.
In fact we have a similar issue in my country, although more severe, when bees gather nectar from the Karaka tree, a plant introduced here maybe a thousand years ago by Maori as it was a food source for them.
Karaka nectar wreaks havock to the hives, but thankfully it's fairly uncommon.
Sounds like neonicatinoind's being described as something else! Those of us that see it keep getting nocked down for our beliefs!

Neo - What?
What source do you suspect neo-nic poisoning from?
I think the 'muck' has been around Oz for a long time before these systemic insecticides.
We have plants in California that are toxic to bees also.

Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards
That's why I asked about it.
Supposedly it looks like AFB, but it isn't and TM works on it.
