Unfortunately, no more pollen until spring. Maybe February maybe April here. Our grass is still green though. I still have tea roses blooming but the bees seldom come close to them. They have even quit the Autumn Joy Sedum.
Perhaps to add insult to injury, my bees in SE Missouri are still bringing in nectar. Hives gaining weight, won't have to feed as much this year.

Steven

I'm in northern Iowa and still have dandelions going pretty well, frosted several weeks ago but dandelion are hard to stop, bout 75 degrees today and they were working hard bringing in pollen
Had a break in the weather today, and the girls were coming in loaded down with bright orange pollen.
Don't provoke a hive full of angry bees.
That's just another day in sunny California!

That's ok BG, our hives will give us a good bounty when the Eucalyptus starts flowing. Olly is going to let us use his honey house too!

They are finding multiple sources. Orange, yellow, and lighter color pollen all coming in. They are not adding to the honey stores any though.

Maybe because it's fun to look at but your better off with what you have at home.
I'll mention the flip side
Robbing year round
Varroa .... It has to be worse here, short if any brood break.
Hive beetles all the time
Feeding at the end of December
Hive beetles... Did I mention that?
Etc.
Grass doesn't seem greener when your watching for snakes under your hives nearly all year!
Friends tell me that MAQS kill the grass in front of their hives. Maybe use of MAQS will kill your snakes too.

They aren't really a issue, other than making me jump and squeal like a girl every once and a while. The non-venomous ones always get a pass. I have a nice 5 ft black snake at one yard and never see any other critters. I think he keeps the other snakes, rats etc away.
I did have one yard where each hive ate 50#+ honey over the summer. Poor management for sure but I don't think that would have happened "up north".

Mbeck, keep that black racer snake around. They eat venomous snakes. I used to have pigmy rattlers hear in West Palm Beach, but haven't seen any since the black racers moved in.
I bet all out bees eat far more than 50 pounds of honey in the summer. It takes a lot to raise brood. I have a bull snake that makes me jump high for an old fat man. I tolerate it because the rattlesnakes will not be there as long as the bull snake is. They are all gone off to the bluffs to find a den in the rocks now. I don't miss them.

In Vancouver (Canada) we still have some blossoms (asters, anemone, calendula ...) but also torrential rain fall. I've included some real bee porn.
what do you all have against snakes-even venomus ones. They eat mice and rats. Generally if you keep your apiary uncluttered you will see them long before you get with in strike distance. just use a long stick to move them out of the way. Don't leave boards and junk lying around and don't use your hands to pick up stuff that has been laying on the ground. My dad used to have a 4 foot water mocassin that lived under his refrigerator in his boat house. The snake would never show itself until my dad showed up with the days catch. My dad always saved one blue gill or a big shiner for the snake. That went on for over 15 years until my dad got too sick to go boating .
