Here's my question..If / when the girls are hitting the capped honey will you see the chewed up wax on the sticky board? Just curious if that may be a good way (along with weight) to see if they are hitting their stores.

the only time I have seen wax on the bottom board is from mice or robbing. neither is very good.
You might see chewed cappings that looks like fine powdery sawdust on the sticky board. This will give you an idea as to where the cluster is located too.
To everything there is a season....
I have a screened bottom board, with a pull-out tray. I pull it out regularly through the winter to look to see if they are feeding and how much, which I can tell by the lines of cappings on the tray. So, yes, the wax cappings will drop down and it can be a way to monitor how they are doing. I scrape them off each time then so I know if there are some again the following week they are new ones.
