For those of you who buy unassembled frames, I would like your recommendation on what size staples to use along with the glue. I have an 18 ga. stapler and brad nailer.
- Bottom bar size
- Top bar size
Thanks in advance for your advice.![]()

I wood glue & then nail the frames with 1 1/4" 3d brads. I use grooved bottom rails. For attaching the wood spline to secure the foundation at the top, I use 9/16" Arrow staples and tap them flush with a small hammer.
Great project to do while watching tv, too.

Red Dirt Apiaries
I use 1/4x11/4 crown staples for everthing but the wedge for it I use 1/4x5/8.
"Can't never did do nothin'" Grandma Heltsley
1 1/4" for the top and bottom bars.

I use 2 ea 1in brads thru theend bars into the top bar and use the supplied nails thru the bottom bar into the end bar because it is way too fragile. the head on the nail provides a nice fat surface that doesn't punch through the groove.
but then that is just me
1 1/4 and titebond III
1/4"x3/4" staples. 5 on the top bar @ each end and 3 on the bottom bar @ each end. 16 total.
Haven't had a frame come apart yet. I dont want to spend the time gluing everything.
inch, or inch & a 1/4 in 6mm crown, galvanised 18 gauge staples here.
Whatever is in the gun
I like that Titebond III glue - Only started using it the past 3-4 months. Found an agent in Australia which is cool.
